International Officers Report 2017 AGM

Yes it’s this time of the Year where I am giving you our members my Yearly report as your International Officer for our Unison Branch.

So since the 2016 AGM I attend my first Unison International Seminar which was held in Sheffield, and it was well attended and they had excellent speakers who spoke on International issues about Colombia and Peace Beyond, Eradicating Exploitation in the Global Supply Chains, Public Services in the Global South, Palestine, How to engage members in your Branch and International work in your Branch, from the Friday Evening of March 4th to Sunday Lunch time March 6th.  Also there was time during that Weekend to network with other members involved with International work in their Branches.   I will be attending this Year’s International Seminar which is to be held in Devon, and a report will follow the Seminar.

So apart from attending the above Seminar, I also attended the Eastern Region International Committee Meetings which were held in May, July, August and I also attended the joint Eastern and South East Region International Seminar which was held at Unison Headquarters in London and again it was well attended and excellent speakers at the Seminar who spoke on topics Show the Racisim the Red Card, Joint Council for Welfare of Immigrants, Unhealthy Development, Anti Slavery International, Director Democarcy and Workers Rights Centre Palestine and Phone Credits for Refugees.  No doubt we will be holding another Seminar for this Region again, and I would encourage those of you who are interested in International issues to attend.

If anyone who is interested in International issues within the Service, please contact me on 07508111365 and if you wish to attend the International Seminar in Devon also contact me.
