This is apparently linked to our financial position and the work of SSG healthcare – a private consultancy the Trust has engaged to assist with the financial improvement plan.
In UNISONs #PBTH survey, staff raised performance management – including ‘green in 15,’ as causing them stress. As a result it was agreed that the Trust would no longer apply this ‘target’ to staff. This commitment was communicated to staff in NTK, and by a number of Directors and Senior managers in a paper to the Operational Management Board (OMB).
The OMB paper stated: The purpose of the paper is to highlight to OMB the agreed decisions and areas for implementation across the Trust and specifically in Emergency Operations. The overarching agreement in the area of individual performance management relates to the immediate cessation of the following current practices:
– Staff being measured against generic Trust wide fixed targets.
– The use of arbitrary targets (such as green in 15 and 30 second mobilisation targets) to manage staff.
The NTK article stated a key agreement was:
Stopping the use of arbitrary individual performance measures for staff, such as generic mobilisation targets and greening up at hospitals.
The working group agreed to immediately cease the current PDR process and the use of arbitrary measures to performance manage staff.
